short story definition
We are seeking original and engaging stories in the George MacDonald and/or Michael Phillips tradition, up to 15,000 words in length. Our judges, who will be announced at a later time, will be rating stories based on writing craft and technique, as well as their similarity to the message of our two authors.
More Prizes for Adult Entries
All Adult entries will receive the a PDF of Principles of Writing Craft by Michael Phillips, which can also be purchased on Amazon in paperback format. This book will form the basis for the judging criteria in this contest.
If possible, as many of the entries as time permits will receive editorial notes and suggestions for improvement in writing craft.
The top stories, likely 10 in all, will be published in a compilation targeted for December 2020, with all proceeds going to families of those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Each short story submission, whether they are selected in the top positions or not, will receive a free copy (shipping not included.) In addition, selected stories will be published on the WorksOfMacDonald.com website.
Youth Competition (15 and younger)
Adult ($15) and Youth ($5) submissions may be purchased at Wise Path Books.
